About
Public Land Lovers
Janyne and Andrew met while working on public lands in California. With backgrounds in biology and geography, they quickly bonded over a shared obsession with botany, maps, and the wild places that make public lands so special. Both grew up in Chicagoland dreaming of alpine lakes and mountain trails, but somewhere along the way, they fell in love with sagebrush, desert sunsets, and the wide-open landscapes of the West.
During the peak of COVID, Janyne and Andrew cooked up what started as the ultimate road-trip dream—a way to stay sane while imagining a life spent exploring the places they loved. What began as a daydream slowly became a plan: saving money, finding the perfect van, and spending 14 months building their future home on wheels.
On September 1, 2025, they finally hit the road and set out on one epic adventure. Public Land Lovers was born along the way—a place to share the landscapes, trails, campgrounds, and public lands that have shaped their lives, while documenting the places they visit and the stories behind them.
But life on the road also reminded them how much they missed working on meaningful projects. So they started Orovada Consulting LLC, combining Janyne's background in restoration ecology with Andrew's decade of experience in environmental monitoring and geospatial mapping. What started as a road trip became something bigger: a chance to build a life around the things they care about most.
Today, Public Land Lovers is about more than traveling. It's about exploring, understanding, and advocating for the public lands that belong to all of us. And through Orovada Consulting, we're putting those skills to work helping organizations better understand their landscapes, tell their stories, and make a difference on the ground.
If you've got a project where biology, ecology, GIS, or a little creative problem-solving could help, we'd love to hear from you.
